Myths of the White Van Man
New research carried out for Transit manufacturer Ford has revealed that more than 90 per cent of van drivers believe that people who use mobile phones while driving pose a danger. The survey, which looked into the myths and realities of White Van Man, revealed van drivers as a conscientious group, with 85 per cent caring how customers perceive them. Furthermore, of the roofers, plumbers, builders, electricians etc surveyed, 98 percent had heard of the term White Van Man, but almost three-quarters considered it insulting or not applying to them. The results show the survey respondents to be professional in their approach to work, customers and driving – indeed, more than half care how other drivers see them.
