Green Power

Now no longer instantly recognised as simply the name of a colour the word ‘green’ is more likely to be used to by industries explaining what they are doing to try and save the planet …and the Standby Power industry is no different! Generating standby power can indeed now be ‘green’ and Fuel Cell is the reason why. 10 years ago the debate about UPS would probably have centred on the reliability of individual component parts; differing battery technologies and battery design life times, plus lengthy discussions over which UPS technology offered the best solution for a particular application. Other discussions may have centred on the fuel source of the generator and what support to put in place in case it wouldn’t start. Power protection prevents disaster

   Andy Struthers, Technical Services Manager, Retail Assist recalls the day that investment in power protection prevented disaster.   Many prominent retail chains in the UK - household names – each with in excess of 250 high street outlets outsource their IT infrastructure and data processing to Retail Assist, the UK’s number one in this sector. It has offices in London, Bingham, Nottingham and the Data Centre in Northampton. The power to its critical systems is protected by equipment supplied and maintained by Uninterruptible Power Supplies Limited.
