Lightning/surge arrester offers integration in enclosures using LSA

Lightning/surge arrester offers integration in enclosures using LSADEHNrapid from DEHN (U.K.) Ltd. is a combined lightning current and surge arrester that is directly pluggable into disconnection blocks based on the standard LSA insulation displacement connection system, allowing easy integration within enclosures. The integrated LSA disconnection block function in the unit's 10-pair plug-in protection block allow for protected testing, disconnecting or patching within the system or the additional attachment of single-pair surge arresters. The 10-pair plug-in surge-protection block with lightning current carrying capacity incorporates gas discharge tubes and optional visual fault indication as well as the disconnection block contacts. The surge arresters snap into the earthing frame and can be removed as a block, whenever required. The decoupling impedances integrated into the protective plugs allow for energy co-ordination to the plug-in terminal block irrespective of the cable length. The single-pair plug also allows partial supplying of the disconnection blocks, including the facility for one block to support protective plugs with different circuits or nominal voltages. A fail-safe function short-circuits the lines to earth in order to protect the gas discharge tube from a possible burn-off due to overcurrents. In the event of an overcurrent, the disconnecting solder between the spring and the surge-protection device melts, the leads are short-circuited and the temperature-sensitive colour on the spring changes from light pink to dark purple and requests the user to replace the surge-protection device. The integrated assembly of plug-in surge-protection block, earthing frame and protective plug can be plugged in and removed completely. The combined lightning current and surge arrester corresponds to Yellow/Line SPD Class Type 1 Type 3 P1. The plug-in protection block has disconnection contacts that are compatible with the disconnection block. A measuring or disconnection adaptor can be p... Full Article »
